Frequently Asked Questions

Questions about AR/VR Applications.

  • AR adds a virtual element to reality. For example, you might see your actual surroundings on a phone or tablet screen but with an added virtual object. Objects can also be expanded or placed in a completely new context. Last but not least, this technology can be used to explain complex objects by offering precise views or displaying clarifying animations/text.
  • For VR, on the other hand, you need a visualization device, such as a pair of VR glasses, which replaces your actual surroundings by placing the user into a fully virtual world. There are a few different ways to play here: you can differentiate between linear and non-linear VR. 360° images or videos therefore create a special VR experience but do not offer any possibility to interact as is possible with the simple VR display of objects. We show you all the available options in our workshop.

Questions about 3D elements / products / data.

  • Existing 3D data is very helpful as reference material in the development of the models for our applications. Generally, this model data has been created for product production and is therefore not suitable for marketing purposes. In order to achieve the best possible performance and quality in each application, we must reduce each product as much as possible without warping its quality for the user. As an example, this is achieved by removing all invisible or internal parts. We then reduce the external parts that are generally not visible to the layperson’s eye. For example, who would notice if all of the screws on a machine were swapped from hexagonal, three-dimensional elements to dots on the surface of the equipment? This makes a huge difference to performance, as we are able to reduce the amount of data significantly without impairing the quality of a product.
  • Products can of course be integrated as 3D elements. Ideally, the number of products should be clarified before the virtual trade fair stand is produced so that the stand design can be optimized to reflect the number of objects. But 3D products can also be added in later on. If required, these can also be equipped with 3D animation.

Questions on device compatibility

  • We are striving to develop our application so that it always reflects the latest state of technology. Our virtual trade fair stands are therefore based on WebGL2 technology as standard, which is supported by the browsers Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge and Mozilla Firefox. Apple is working on its own technology for displaying 3D content online. Unfortunately, there is no foreseeable end date for this development.
  • There is still a range of options when it comes to making virtual trade fair stands available on mobile devices and Safari browsers if this is suggested by the target group analysis. We would be happy to advise you on how best to integrate such fallbacks in a personal consultation. It may even make sense to use WebGL 1.0. This is technically more elaborate and limited but runs on 98% of all mobile devices.
  • Separate apps must be published for Apple and Android devices. The same data basis can be used; however, adjustments must be made to each app code so that it works on both operating systems with the same technology.
  • The performance of technical end devices is also important. Technologies for the use of AR applications require more computing power and a newer device.
  • The user interface also plays a role. If an app was originally developed for use on a tablet, operating it on a much smaller phone screen would not be user-friendly, for instance. It can therefore be necessary to make UI adjustments so that pleasant operation is achieved on smartphones too.
  • In principle, it is always therefore advisable to define the specific target group and analyze which devices this target group uses before developing an app. This means the budget can be used as efficiently as possible.

Questions on user experience in a virtual trade fair stand

  • Yes, it’s possible to scan a person in 3D or use high-resolution headshots of a person (head-on and side-on) to generate a 3D model with up to 90% similarity.
  • There are various options for the customer when it comes to moving through a virtual trade fair stand. Users that are well versed in 3D can click through the virtual environment independently. Alternatively, an avatar can greet the user and offer help. The user can be led through the content in a guided tour, e.g. if the content should be viewed in a particular order (keyword: storytelling) or if the user group is very heterogenous and less 3D-savvy users should also be allowed to explore this virtual world.
  • Yes, a virtual trade fair stand can encompass one, two or even more languages. If your stand will be multilingual, any graphics, product information etc. should also be made available in multiple languages. If working with two or more languages, consider whether the language should be chosen automatically based on the user’s browser or system language or manually selected.
  • Some virtual trade fair stands are publicly accessible on websites, while others can only be accessed after logging in. Both options have pros and cons, and impact the type of user tracking. In principle, there are three ways to track user journeys. First of all, you can not track user journeys. Secondly, you can achieve a general tracking of clicks etc. by involving Google Analytics. Thirdly, you can employ personalized tracking of user journeys by linking to CRM.
  • There are multiple ways to regulate access to a virtual trade fair stand. You can offer public access without restrictions or only offer access after logging in. Furthermore, you can also make approval by your staff mandatory in addition to a log-in. Last but not least, access can also be restricted to personal invitation only.
  • A virtual trade fair stand isn’t an off-the-rack product – find out more on our info page!

Can the virtual trade fair stand be linked to other systems? Is there any synergy?

  • Yes, we can link our virtual solutions with almost any systems so that data can be saved directly in the client’s system and no internal resources are taken up with the transfer of information.
  • Yes, we can link to PDFs and export each slide of a PowerPoint presentation as an image. Animated slides cannot be exported. We actually recommend that our clients use their existing marketing content so that communication with the target group is consistent.
  • With some expansions, the virtual trade fair stand or virtual trade fair world can be used as an event platform. For example, live streams can be displayed directly onto various 3D objects in the virtual trade fair stand. Clicking on the object either opens the stream in full-screen mode or opens an event page with add-ons such as chat options or surveys. Past webinars can even be incorporated and made available in exchange for a newsletter subscription or registration. Talk to us about the possibilities of live events!
  • Yes, various tools can be used in the virtual trade fair stand to contact the company. This may include a contact form accessible via a button or a comment from the avatar or a 3D object, e.g. a business card or telephone. Alternatively, links to existing contact forms or even a communication tool can be displayed so that the user can get in touch with the company directly at any time via a telephone or video call.
  • The integration of a content management system (CMS) makes sense especially if you intend to frequently change your content. If you only intend to change some content occasionally, it’s more economical to simply contract these changes out.
